FODMAP Friendly Certification
There are two companies who certify the safe levels of FODMAPs in packaged foods, Monash University and FODMAP Friendly. We work with Fodmap Friendly to certify our products. The FODMAP Friendly certification program, incorporating the FODMAP Friendly logo, is the only registered certification trademark worldwide certifying FODMAP levels in food products that have been laboratory tested to be low in FODMAP’s.
Only once the products have been laboratory tested via FODMAP Friendly and passed, can they use the FODMAP Friendly logo. You can be confident about the use of the logo on products… not only is each product laboratory tested to initially determine if it qualifies, these products can also be randomly audited at any time, which is essential to ensure approved products continue to meet the criteria to retain the logo.
It is important to get products certified as many factors contribute to whether a product is low, moderate or high in FODMAPs, including the ingredients themselves, FODMAP stacking and the cooking process. For example, cooking tomatoes a long time on a high heat actually concentrates the fructose levels, so whilst you think you are having safe levels of tomatoes, the fructose is actually concentrated meaning they could be moderate to high now.
